Every moment at a photo shoot touches my heart in different ways!  It always amazes me how these families show up smiling and happy, loving and excited about getting a picture taken, they're going through so much… stuff I can't even imagine yet they are so happy to be there and so thankful for us being there.  One shoot that really touched my heart and stands out for me has to be a shoot we did a few months ago where a 23 year old soldier was there with his mom to get their picture made.  He was off fighting for our country, and was discharged when he found out about his diagnosis.  He came in full uniform to the shoot, and we got an amazing shot of him and his mother together.  We all had tears in our eyes when they left….
There are many children that come to mind that I won't forget, but if I have to pick one… it would be this young girl who I first met at a hockey fights cancer night.  She was the ambassador for the night, so she was there getting the royal treatment!  She got to do the puck drop, meet the players, etc.  Her family was all there with her, and they seemed like they were on top of the world.  I found out through a FOH questionnaire that by the time the family received her pictures she has passed away.  The mom wrote us the most amazing letter, explaining how she reacted when she got the pictures and how much they mean to her.  It was something I'll always remember.

What brings me back to the hospital once a month is the joy that I see on the families faces.  It really puts things in perspective for me in my own life.  I am so blessed, and it really brings me joy to know that for those few short hours I get to see just what a picture can do to brighten someone's otherwise lousy day!
