Jean Shifrin Photography Blog - Flashes of Hope

April 16, 2012  |  Posted by Jean Shifrin

Last week I spent the day photographing children and their families for Flashes of Hope, an amazing non-profit organization that works with professional photographers who volunteer their time and talent to photograph children with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. The families receive beautiful black and white prints that they will always treasure. The goal of Flashes of Hope is “to help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it.” (To learn more, please visit www.flashesofhope.org)

Every time I photograph these children, I’m struck by their beauty, grace and dignity. And I hope I’ve captured those qualities so that the children and their families will have positive memories of this very difficult time in their lives
