Flashes of Hope Partners with Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital, benefiting Children with Cancer and other Life Threatening Illnesses

June 28, 2008

Photography program highlights the bravery, grace and spirit of children battling cancer and other life threatening Illnesses. Flashes of Hope is proud to announce its second chapter in the state of Florida, at Orlando's distinguished Arnold Palmer’s Hospital for children. The chapter was launched in May of this year. The Orlando chapter is off to a great start thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and a very generous grant from First Priority Travel. “As the daughter of a cancer survivor, I was moved to contact Flashes of Hope after hearing Allison Clarke’s story on the CBS Morning Show in 2006. I feel very privileged to be a part of an organization that offers an opportunity to give back to the community in a way that is both altruistic and creative  said Orlando Chapter director Nancy Deluca. Flashes of Hope is a national non-profit organization based in Cleveland, OH that utilizes volunteer, award-winning photographers and stylists to set up photo shoots in pediatric hospitals across the country. Shoots are held monthly at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The images help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. For families of terminally ill children, it is especially important to have a portrait that forever preserves the bravery, grace and dignity of their child. Families that are photographed receive a free portrait gift package and a CD with all of their images. Flashes of Hope began its program in 2001, and currently operates in 19 cities across the country. “We are thrilled to bring the program to another city in Florida, to give this gift to so many more children in the Orlando community  said founder Allison Clarke. Flashes of Hope has a long waiting list to begin it’s program in more than 24 additional pediatric hospitals across the country, and anticipates more than one thousand children will be photographed this year alone.
