FirstEnergy Foundation donates $10,000 to Flashes of Hope

AKRON, Ohio - The FirstEnergy Foundation has donated $10,000 to support the Big Shots and Little Stars fund-raising event for pediatric cancer research. The event is hosted by the Flashes of Hope Foundation, which is dedicated to accelerating a cure for children's cancer.

The event will take place Thursday at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland and will include FirstEnergy President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony J. Alexander "walking the runway" with a pediatric cancer survivor as part of the evening's activities.

In addition to raising funds for research, the Cleveland-based Flashes of Hope Foundation also provides free portrait packages to the families of children diagnosed with cancer. The foundation takes photos of more than 50 percent of the children diagnosed with cancer in the United States each year.
